MYKONOS!

Our first stop on our mini cruise of the Greek Isles was Mykonos, a honeymoon destination known for its whitewashed buildings and nightlife. Even though we cringed when we overheard passengers on our boat talking about where the Kardashians stayed during their family vacation, Mykonos Town quickly won us over with its winding alleyways and iconic windmills.

We spent our time in port mostly exploring those alleyways, finding pretty churches and doorways, and searching for gyros. The upscale shops were all closed upon our arrival and the nightlife had yet to begin. Despite the bad timing, Mykonos Town was still a lovely place to visit.

Destination: Mykonos | Greece | Europe

Traveled: March 2015

Accommodation: Celestyal Olympia

Takeaways: 1) Port times are not necessarily the most convenient hours. 2) This is one of those places that requires an overnight stay.

^^ the famous whitewashed church of panagia paraportiani ^^

^^ can you see why this area is known as little venice? ^^

Restaurant Pick:
SAKIS GRILL HOUSE (handmade Mykonian pita)
Kalogera 7, Chora Mykonos Town

Recommendations: 1) Time your visit better than us and stay the night, if possible. 2) Check out Alefkántra (“Little Venice") and the windmills in Mykonos Town.

Next Time: Experience the nightlife! Perhaps next time we'll also see a pelican.
